Lady Cougars End 2022 On A High Note

The Grace Women’s Soccer team was busy during the week before Christmas.  The Lady Cougars took a little “Tour of Tyler,” playing several of the public schools in the Tyler area.  It started with a home game against Tyler High.  It was a hard-fought, physical battle, and the Lady Cougars showed themselves to be up to the challenge, winning 2-0 on goals from Elle Durham and Addison Eli.

Following that win, a round-robin night of shortened games was played against Jacksonville and Whitehouse.  Grace battled Jacksonville to a 0-0 draw, coming very close to getting a winner, and then dominated Whitehouse, winning 2-0.  Goals against Whitehouse came courtesy of Ally Wallace and Lauren Etheredge.

Grace then finished out their pre-break schedule with a game at Bullard High School.  The Lady Cougars came into the game carrying a 10-game shutout streak (incredible!), and the defense deserves special recognition for their strong performances: Claire Stoermer, Kennedy Tilley, Bela Sabillon, Julia Feliciano, Lauren Etheredge, Maggie Gillen, Savannah Hopson, Tori Perez, and Randi Huddleston.  The game against Bullard was a battle, with both teams putting in great performances.  The Lady Cougars once again proved to be too much for the Panthers, and walked away with a 2-1 win!  Goals were courtesy of Addison Eli and Elle Durham.

As they come back from the break, the Lady Cougars will be busy preparing for the start of District play.  They will play a warm-up game at Cumberland Academy on Tuesday, and then will kick-off District by traveling to Cristo Rey on January 9th.  Kickoff for both games will be 5:30 pm.
