Lady Cougars End Successful Season With a Run To The Final Four
The Lady Cougars playoff run came to an end Thursday night in the state semi-final. The girls benefited from a great crowd that made the drive to Waco to support the team. The Cougars were up against a tough Liberty Christian team that would go on to dominate the state championship game. The Cougars started out strong with a basket by Reece Porter off the tip. Tough defense and good free throw shooting kept the Cougars in the game in the first half. The Warriors would get hot in the 3rd quarter and pull away. Reece Porter led the team with 8 points and 6 rebounds, and was named to the all-tournament team. Senior point guard Abigail Roach was also named to the all-tournament team. The team finished 31-11 on the year. These girls had a great season on the court, but most importantly sought to honor God in the way they played. They displayed great sportsmanship, built fantastic relationships, and refined character that will last for a long time. We are very proud of the way they represented GCS this year.
