Lady Cougars Enter Break With Big Wins

MS Girls BasketballThe Grace JH Girls Basketball teams had a decent week before the Christmas break with each team (7th and 8th) going 1-1 on the week. The girls opened the week on Monday playing at home against Cumberland. The 7th grade girls won by a score of 25-21. Eva King led the way with 8 points followed by Kyndall Roberts with 6, Rylee Phillips with 5 and Casey Goetz with 4. Sawyer Flores also scored 2. Our 8th grade girls played a good solid game and came away with a nail-biter 27-25. Lilly Kennedy and Macy Loftis each had 8 points to lead the team while Avery Blalock had 4 points, Rebecca Dai had 3 and Rowyn Parish and Marley Parrish each had 2 points. Great job girls!! We ended the 1st semester playing against Bishop Gorman on the Thursday before break. The girls had a rough night shooting and the games got away from them. In the 7th grade game, the girls lost 27-10. Hazel Finley had her best game and led the way with 6 points followed by Rylee Phillips and Natalie Jenks with 2 points each. In the 8th grade game, the girls played a solid 3 quarters but the 4th quarter got away from them as Gorman had a hot shooting quarter from the floor and free-throw line. Macy Loftis led the way with 9 points. Marley Parrish and Lilly Kennedy each followed with 4 points and Avery Blalock and Rowyn Parish rounded out the scoring with 2 points each. The Lady Cougars will play away this week at Arp on Thursday. The 7th grade team will play at 4:30 and the 8th graders will play at 6:30pm. Go Cougars!!
