Lady Cougars Excel at New Diana Tournament
| The Grace Lady Cougars lost in overtime to Pine Tree 54-52 on November 15th. Reece Porter led the Cougars with 14 points, Paige Gilmore scored 10 and Ashley Brown had 9. Nov. 17-19 the Cougars competed in a tournament in New Diana. The team won four of its five games. After trailing 18-5 in the first quarter the Cougars chipped away at the lead and eventually pulled away to beat a strong Hawkins squad 67-55. Paige Gilmore led the team with 22 points and Reece Porter had 18. The Cougars had a rematch with Pine Tree in their second game, and fell short again 59-53. Abigail Roach led the scoring with 17. Friday the team beat Jefferson 61-40. Brenna Hill had 19 points and 5 assists, Reece Porter and Paige Gilmore had 12 and 11 respectively. Saturday the team beat Harmony 46-18. Brenna Hill led with 22 points, Lucy Loftis had 9. The final game was another victory over Jefferson 70-51. Abigail Roach had 24 points and 6 assists. Brenna Hill had 23 points and Paige Gilmore had 14 points and 14 rebounds. The Cougars are 7-2 on the year. This week they play Quitman at home on Tuesday, before heading to a tournament at Blooming Grove. |
