Lady Cougars Go 4-0, Clinch District Playoff Berth

April 13, 2026 – The Grace Lady Cougars had a busy and successful week, sweeping doubleheaders against Bishop Dunne on Monday and Brentwood Christian on Thursday to finish the week 4-0 and clinch a spot in the district playoffs.

Grace opened the week with a dominant 19-0 win over Bishop Dunne in Game 1. Grace Bird led the offense with three hits in four at-bats, while Sadie Arriola also collected three hits and drove in three runs. Malyana Cauley earned the win in the circle, allowing two hits in three scoreless innings while striking out six. Grace showed discipline at the plate, drawing 14 walks in the win.

In Game 2, the Lady Cougars continued their momentum with a 16-0 victory. Grace scored 10 runs in the first inning to set the tone early. Arriola and Cauley each collected two hits, while Cauley drove in four runs and earned the win after throwing three no-hit innings with eight strikeouts.

Grace carried that same energy into Thursday’s doubleheader against Brentwood Christian. In Game 1, the Lady Cougars took control early and held on for the win behind another strong pitching performance from Cauley, who allowed three hits and two runs over five innings while striking out five. Arriola and McKenzie Wulf each drove in two runs, and Grace drew nine walks. Arriola also added two stolen bases. Cauley highlighted her outing by throwing an immaculate inning in the second, striking out three batters on nine pitches.

The Lady Cougars closed the week with an 18-1 win in Game 2, led by Arriola, who drove in four runs with a triple and a double. Aubrey Davis paced the offense with three hits, while Grace totaled 10 hits in the game. Cauley earned the win once again, allowing one run over three innings.

With the four-game sweep, the Lady Cougars secured a spot in the district playoffs and will look to carry their momentum into the final stretch of district competition.
