Lady Cougars Open District Play with 8-1 Win Over Brook Hill

January 19, 2025 – The Grace girls soccer team opened district play in dominant fashion last week, defeating rival Brook Hill 8-1 on the road.

The match started with fast-paced, end-to-end action and physical play, but the Lady Cougars soon took control and created several scoring opportunities. Strong goalkeeping from Brook Hill kept the score close early, but Grace broke through in the first half.

Harper Miller scored the opening goal off a corner from Kate Herod, and Addison Eli followed with a goal on a corner from Elle Durham. Grace continued to pressure Brook Hill throughout the game.

In the second half, goals came from Cesa Sabillon, Addie Mathews, and Eli, who added four more to cap a standout performance. Elle Durham recorded three assists, while Margaret Gillen, Mathews, Bella Wallace and Miller also assisted on goals.

The Lady Cougars will look to continue their strong district start this week when they travel to Austin to face Hyde Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
