Lady Cougars Open Season With Victory Over Argyle Liberty Christian

The Grace Women’s soccer team kicked off their season last Thursday by welcoming Liberty Christian to the friendly confines of Clyde-Perkins Stadium. The Lady Cougars weren’t too friendly, though, as they sent the Lady Warriors packing all the way back to Argyle with a 3-2 loss!

The Lady Cougars started out facing a little adversity, as Liberty took an early lead on a long, looping shot. Grace kept their composure and tied the score on a scrappy goal from Elle Durham. Halftime came and went with the score tied 1-1. Early in the 2nd half, Rylee Ratliff celebrated her return from a long injury with a beautiful volley goal from 25 yards out. Ten minutes later, Liberty evened the score on a free kick from just outside the box. The Lady Cougars would not be denied, though, and kept pressure on the Lady Warriors’ goal, until Addison Eli scored the winner in the 70th minute.

It was a great performance from the Lady Cougars, and beating Liberty Christian is a strong start to the season! Grace can’t rest on their laurels, as they welcome cross-town rival All Saints on Monday night at 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there!
