Lady Cougars Prepare for TAPSAC Tournament
The JH girls basketball teams each played All Saints twice this week (Monday night at their gym and Thursday night at our gym). The 7th grade team found great success in both games. Monday night they came away with a dominant performance winning 35-5. Rylee Phillips led all scorers with 12 points. Eva King and Emmy Hood followed with 5 points each. Sawyer Flores had 4 and Casey Goetz had 3. Finishing with 2 points were Elizabeth Sheridan, Cora Castle, and Annabelle Davis. At home on Thursday, the girls again won overwhelmingly 31-10. Eva King led the way with 15 followed by Rylee Phillips with 9. Emmy Hood had 3 and Annabelle Davis and Hazel Finley had 2 points each. The girls will go into the TAPSAC tournament as the #2 seed.
The 8th grade girls ran into a very talented All Saints team and in each game had to play while missing a key player (Rebecca Dai on Tuesday and Lilly Kennedy on Thursday). In both games, the girls played as well as they have played all year but came up short. Monday – at All Saints, the 8th grade lost 43-20. Lilly Kennedy led the way with 11 points followed by Macy Loftis with 5. Grace Wilson and Avery Blalock followed with 2 points each. Thursday night found the girls in a close hard fought battle but coming up short 28-19. Macy Loftis and Rebecca Dai each had 5 points to lead the way. Grace Wilson had her strongest performance of the season and scored 4 points and had several key rebounds. Avery Blalock had 3 points and Marley Parrish rounded out the scoring with 2 points. They will go into the TAPSAC tournament as the #3 seed. Both teams will be in this tournament this coming Saturday at All Saints as the season comes to a close.
