Lady Cougars Show Great Promise in Early Season

This past week saw our Grace JH Girls Basketball season get started.  Both 7th and 8th grade teams played 2 games.  Our first game was this past Monday at home against Troup.  For their first game, our 7th graders played with great enthusiasm but lost 45-23. Kudos to Troup’s #20 – a very good player who was able to score 33 points. The girls played hard – for many of them, it was their first game experience. Eva King led the way with 12 points followed by Rylee Phillips with 6; Emma Hood had 3 and Kyndall Roberts had 2.  Our 8th grade girls played with much intensity and led most of the game. In the last couple of minutes, the game went back and forth. Troup made a shot with about 6 seconds left that put them on the winning side 22-20. Macy Loftis led the way with 10 points.  Avery Blalock followed with 4 points and 3 girls had 2 points: Rebecca Dai, Rowyn Parish, and Grace Wilson.

On Thursday, the girls travelled to Bullard to play Tyler Heat.  The 7th girls played a close game but came up short 23-15.  Eva King again led the way with 11 points.  Also scoring 2 points were Rylee Phillips and Sawyer Flores.  The 8th grade team had a difficult night and lost to a very good Heat squad.

Both teams will travel to Bishop Gorman this Monday (11.14).  The 7th grade girls will play at 4:00pm and the 8th grade girls will play at 6:00pm.  Go Cougars!!
