Lady Cougars Showcase Resilience in Win Over Troup and Competitive Tournament Run

December 8, 2025 – The Lady Cougars earned a strong 43–30 victory over Troup on Tuesday night, demonstrating poise and momentum after a slow start. A timely three-pointer by Rylee Phillips ignited the offense, followed shortly by a defensive steal and layup from Paige Gilmore. In the fourth quarter, Macy Loftis delivered back-to-back three-pointers that shifted full control to the Lady Cougars. The team closed the game on an impressive 24–0 run over the final eleven minutes of play.
Loftis led all scorers with 17 points, while Gilmore contributed 15 points along with 6 assists and 5 steals. Phillips added 7 points, and Jaci Whitson anchored the interior with 10 rebounds.
From December 4-6th, the Lady Cougars competed in the Brookshire Tournament as defending champions. They opened with a commanding 69–35 win over Legacy Christian. Loftis recorded a career-high 20 points, and Gilmore nearly posted a quadruple-double with 19 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists, and 6 steals. Additional scoring came from Eva King with 11 points, Phillips with 7, and both Lilly Kennedy and Annabelle Davis with 4 apiece. Whitson added 3 points and collected 8 rebounds.
In their second contest, the Lady Cougars fell 34–25 to a strong Tyler Heat squad in a defensive battle. Despite the loss, the game featured a major milestone: Paige Gilmore scored her 1,000th career point with a layup in the first quarter. The final game of the tournament resulted in a 56–43 loss to a scrappy Fruitvale team. The Lady Cougars held a 21–19 lead at halftime, but consistent defensive pressure from Fruitvale created challenges in the second half. Gilmore once again led the team with 22 points and 13 rebounds. King added 10 points, Loftis scored 7, and Phillips contributed 4.
The Lady Cougars return home on Tuesday night to host New Diana before traveling later in the week to compete in the Frankston Tournament.
