Lady Cougars Start District on a Winning Note

It was a big week for the Grace Women’s Soccer team!  They opened up their District schedule with two away games against Cristo Rey and Bishop Dunne.  The Lady Cougars established themselves as leaders in the district with two very solid performances — and two big wins!  They defeated Cristo Rey 9-0 and Bishop Dunne 6-0.  Scoring for the Lady Cougars was Elle Durham (5), Addison Eli (4), Meg Cowart (3), Cesa Sabillon, Lauren Etheredge and Paige Britt.
The Lady Cougars finished the week with a trip to Mabank for a non-district showdown, and it proved to be an exciting one.  Grace started strong, dominating possession for most of the first half, and going into the halftime break up 2-1.  Goals came courtesy of Addison Eli (on a cross from McKenzie Miller), and then on a terrific shot from McKenzie (set up by a pass from Addison).  Mabank kept the pressure up in the second half, finding a way to get an equalizer, before Elle Durham put the Lady Cougar ahead for good on a beautiful pass from Julia Feliciano.
The Lady Cougars continue their long stretch of road games with a Tuesday night game at Henderson, before finishing the week with a home District showdown with Frisco Legacy on Friday night.  Kickoff for that one is at 5:00 pm.  We would love to have you come out and support us as we try to stay perfect in District!
