Lady Cougars Win TAPSAC Championship

The Grace JH Girls 7th and 8th grade basketball teams travelled to All Saints this past weekend to play in the TAPSAC tournament. The 8th grade played TK Gorman in the first game. It came down to the final minute with Grace holding a two point lead.  Gorman made 4 free throws in the last few seconds. They tied the game with about 20 seconds and then got fouled with 5.1 seconds and made both free throws. Grace got the ball down the court and had an out of bounds play to tie but the shot fell short making the final score 27-25.  Though we lost, the girls played a great game.  Macy Loftis led the way with 14 points followed by Lilly Kennedy and Avery Blalock with 4 points. Rylee Phillips (7th) had 2 points followed by Rowyn Parish with 1.  The 8th grade finished 7-11.  Great job Lady Cougars!!!

Our 7th grade team played All Saints for the TAPSAC championship and came out on top 18-11. Eva King led the way with 7 points followed by Rylee Phillips with 5, Casey Goetz with 4 and Annabelle Davis with 2.  These girls have improved so much since the beginning of the season and they earned the chance to win TAPSAC and they did!! Way to go Lady Cougars – 2023 TAPSAC CHAMPIONS!! Our final record was 7-11. I have no doubt the future of Lady Cougar basketball is bright. What a joy to coach both of these teams!!
