Lady Cougars Win TAPSAC Championship

The Grace JH Cross Country team had a fantastic season. It was a joy to see many of them compete and watch them improve their times and even get personal bests as the season progressed. This past Wednesday morning at Faulkner Park here in Tyler, we had our last meet of the season which was our TAPSAC meet (Brook Hill, Gorman, All Saints and Grace; though not eligible for team title – Dallas Christian also competed with us). We had the privilege of hosting this event.

Our Grace JH Girls Cross Country team are the 2022 TAPSAC CHAMPIONS!! Our team was led by 8th grader Emma Goetz who finished first followed by 8th grader Addie Mathews in 2nd and 7th grader Casey Goetz in 4th.  Kora Rucker (7) and Audrey Kirby (7) were our other top 5 team finishers.  Rounding out our day in order: Sophia Gilmore (6); Olive Brookshire (7); Deborah Mercado (7); Hazel Finley (7); Zoe Coates (6); Adi Beverly (6); Juliet Montier (6) and Molly Cannon (7).  Great job girls!!

Our boys team came in 3rd overall in a tough event – we were missing a strong runner and a couple of our runners were not at full strength.  Leading the way was 8th grader Chris Alexander who came in 2nd followed by 8th grader Dayne Edens in 4th.  Christian Henry (8), Zayden Coates (8) and Clive Johnson (7) were our other top 5 team finishers. The remaining team runners in order of finish: Truett Roseman (8), Gabriel Adams (7), Carter Zimmerman (7), Ayden Serrato (8) and Dylan Small (8). Proud of you guys!!

Special shout out to Coach Tim Latham, Coach Eddie Francis, Coach John Keeling, Coach Jessica Hicks and Coach Mike Lee for all the extra work to accomplish this and also to the High School Cross Country athletes who came out to help: Drew and Grayson Gaddis, Austin Callens and Abby Metzger.  Thank you all so much!!

I am so proud of these athletes and thank God for the privilege of working with them and their families and getting to coach with Brennan Taylor.  #Soli Deo Gloria!!
