Grace Athletic Summer Camps

BASEBALL – Elementary/Junior High

Entering:  1st – 8th Grades
June 4 – 7 from 9 am – Noon
Cost:  $100

This is an “all skills” camp with an emphasis on baseball FUNdamentals. Participants will learn baseball skills during a camp that features fun competitions, contests, and games in addition to drills and one-on-one coaching.

Campers should bring a baseball glove, bat, helmet and water bottle. Baseball cleats recommended but not required. Bring tennis shoes to wear in the gym in case of rain. Campers will receive a 2018 Grace Baseball Camp t-shirt!

BASEBALL – High School Team

Entering:  9th – 12th Grades
July 9 – July 11 from 10:00 am – Noon
Cost:  $75

Baseball camp designed for the high school baseball player looking to sharpen their skills. These three workouts will be run similar to a practice with lots of reps and fundamentals work, yet we will place added focus on improving the skills coaches feel are most needed after the culmination of the baseball season. This camp is also a great place for incoming freshmen to get a jump on the upcoming season and learn what it takes to be a varsity baseball player!

Offensive skills can be the greatest confidence builder in players while the lack of offensive skills can be the greatest confidence killer. This skills camp, open to both boys and girls, will be geared toward the teaching and developing of offensive skills.

Here is what to expect: games based approach to skill development, shooting mechanics and best practices, finishing around the basket and scoring moves, ball handling and passing, offensive team concepts, games and competitions.

Campers should wear gym appropriate shoes and bring a water bottle. Campers will receive a t-shirt!

Mini Cheer Camp

Entering: 1st – 5th Grades
July 17 – 19 from 9 am – Noon
Cost:  $85

Do you want to be a future GCS Cheerleader? Sign up for Mini Cheer Camp and learn a routine with stunts, jumps, tumbling and dancing! Mini cheerleaders will become buddies with the GCS Varsity Cheerleaders and will have a photo taken with Champ!

Please wear t-shirts, shorts, tennis shoes, and hair in a ponytail each day to camp.

Our camp will meet in the High School gym each day. A light snack will be provided, but please bring your own water bottle and additional snacks if necessary. We will also end each day with a special treat to eat!

Mini Cheerleaders will receive a 2018 Mini Cheer Camp t-shirt to wear on Thursday, the last day of camp. Parents are invited to come at 11:30 am on Thursday for a showoff and awards! Space is limited to 50.

Elementary Football Skills

Entering:  2nd – 5th Grades
June 18 – 21 from 9:00 am – Noon
Cost:  $75

This camp will focus on developing fundamental football skills for the young athlete interested in football of any kind, be it tackle, flag or 7-on-7 football.  (This will be a no tackle camp)  Emphasis will be placed on throwing, catching, route running, ball carrying/security, defense, and more!

Camp will be held at Clyde-Perkins Stadium, home of the Grace Cougars!  Please bring a refillable water bottle and snack.  Participants can wear any athletic shoes or cleats.

Football – Jr High Team

Entering:  6th – 8th Grades

This camp is for all Grace Junior High Boys who are interested in playing football for the Cougars. Players will be introduced to the fundamentals of all offensive and defensive positions. They will also begin learning the terminology and philosophy of the Grace Football Program.

Football – Jr High QB & WR

Entering:  6th – 8th Grades
May 21 – 23 from 8 am – 11 am

This camp is for all Grace Junior High Boys who are interested in developing their quarterback or wide receiver skills. Campers will be taught various techniques and tactics for these positions, as well as being introduced to the specific terminology and philosophy of the Grace Football Program.

Soccer – Skills

Entering: K – 6th Grades
June 4 – 7 from 8:00 am – 11:00 am

This camp is for all those who are new, or fairly new, to the game of soccer. Campers will be introduced to the fundamentals of the game of soccer in a fun environment! They will be broken up by age in order to focus on the specific needs of each age. Players will be taught the principles of defending, dribbling, passing, trapping and shooting.

Campers are encouraged to wear shin guards and cleats. They will also receive a 2018 Grace Soccer Camp t-shirt.

Soccer – Advanced

Entering: 7 – 12th Grades
June 4 – 7 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This camp is for all those who are looking for a little more expertise from their soccer camp experience. Campers will focus on offensive and defensive technical skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, defending), as well as more advanced tactical skills. Students will be broken down by age group, and each day will involve competitions (both team and individual). The goal is to help prepare them for their upcoming club or school seasons!

Campers should wear shin guards and cleats, and are encouraged to bring a ball as well. They will receive a 2018 Grace Soccer Camp t-shirt.

Soccer – Strikers & Goalies

Entering: 6 – 12th Grades
July 23 – 24 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Cost:  $65

Scoring goals and making saves. Two of the most important skills in the game of soccer. Yet, there are not a lot of camps that focus on these skills. If you fancy yourself a goalie or a striker, and are looking to improve your skills in these areas, this camp is for you!

Campers will be split into their respective groups to focus on different skills, and then come together at the end to compete against each other. Strikers will be taught basics of shooting, as well as other types of finishing (headers, volleys and trick shots). Goalies will be taught the main skills required for their position: shot stopping techniques (blocking & catching), as well as body positioning and agility.

Campers should bring shin guards and cleats. Goalies should also bring their own gloves. Each camper will receive a special Grace Soccer t-shirt.

SOCCER – All Day Soccer Camp Session 1

For boys and girls age 7 – 16

Beginners 9am – Noon, cost $90

Intermediate/Advanced: 9am – 4:45pm, cost $150

All Day Soccer Camps (@Grace Community School) is one of the NEW camps available in the Tyler area. Established since 2008 in Mississippi, this camp will concentrate on the technical and tactical aspects of the small-sided games and challenge each camper throughout the week to improve from their individual soccer level. From a Christian environment, we also provide group devotionals for each theme of the day. The coaching staff’s dedication and professionalism will help all campers develop their game in the best of settings. The camp will focus on technical ball skills and small-sided games as well as emphasizing the finishing factor of scoring goals. There is no finer place than All Day Soccer Camps to get the best in basic and elite soccer education right near you!

Swim – Summer Competition League Session 1

Ages 10+
June 4 – July 27  from 8 am – 9:30 am
Cost:  $200

Requirement: Be able to swim, unassisted, the length of the pool using any stroke.

Students will develop all four swim strokes over the course of the summer. There will be a few fun Saturday swim meets here in East Texas for the students to have a chance to put their developing skills to the test.

Students will need to schedule a time to demonstrate their current swim capability before the first day of camp so that they may be placed with the correct ability grouping.

This camp is for Grace Jr High students entering 7th-8th grades. If you are interested in trying out for the Junior High teams in August, you should attend this camp. We will work on passing, setting, hitting, and blocking. We will also work on team dynamics, such as team offense and defense. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

VOLLEYBALL – Middle School Skills

Entering  6th – 8th Grades

This camp is for any girls entering 6th-8th grades. We will focus on the individual skills and fundamentals of volleyball by teaching how to pass, set, hit & block a ball. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

We will be fine tuning your form and spins with our pitchers and working soft hands, blocking and throw downs with the catchers during this camp. Items you will want to include for this camp are water bottles, glove, cleats and IF you have catching gear, bring it. You may want to bring a snack if you are coming to the hitting class @ 10:45.

Art History and Creations

Entering Grades 1 – 6

Come and explore the arts through a variety of well-known artists. Each class, students will study an artist and complete a work of art using their techniques or style.

Kickstart Kindergarten!

Entering K5
July 23 – 25 from 8:30 – 11 am
Cost:  $120

Take the mystery out of kindergarten. Early math and literacy concepts become real and meaningful as children make the connection to their everyday world. Multisensory strategies make lessons memorable and provide real-life context so children learn easily. Skills are presented explicitly from the easiest to the most challenging. Includes letter and word concepts, rich vocabulary, concepts about print, six core language and literacy domains. Lessons address general readiness, alphabet knowledge, letter/number recognition and formation, counting, drawing, shapes, and colors. Your child will get a boost for kindergarten in this course! Executive Functioning

Entering Grades 6 – 10
July 23 – 24 from 6 – 9 pm
Cost:  $120

Is your child chronically late turning in papers? Does she show up for soccer practice without her soccer bag? Say things without thinking? Read something and forget what he read? Wait until the last minute and then get caught short on time to complete tasks? We can assist students through instruction, practice, and strategies. Our course will teach strategies that turn positive thinking into action, increase attention and enhance memory, successfully organize and plan, as well as manage emotions and build self-awareness. Optional follow-up opportunities will be presented at class for after school resumes.

Mad Scientists!

Students will utilize the scientific method as they perform fun and engaging science experiments. All materials are included! A sample of the science experiments included in this course are: Glacier Gak, Seven Density Column, Bubbling Lava bottle and more!

STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering & Math

STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students in this course will combine all STEM classifications into engaging challenges. Students will design a project, test its success, measure the results of the experiment and reflect on their hypothesis and investigation.

Some of the activities might be just a little bit dangerous – like learning to build a fire! Some get you dirty – like water cannon fights on the dirt hill! And some are just plain awesome – like building and launching rockets over the baseball field! So come experience the most exciting camp for boys this summer, but hurry because space fills up fast! (Have no fear – all activities are well supervised and mom approved!)  ***We will mix in some NEW activities this year!!!***

Campers are asked to bring a snack, refillable water bottle, and sunscreen or bug spray if needed.

American Girl Doll

DRAMA – Summer Musical Theater

Auditions will be held the first day of camp. Campers will receive audition materials by June 1st and can prepare songs from the selected musical. Come join the fun! It’s going to be magical!
