Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA)
Beginning February 4, 2026, parents may apply for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program. Education Freedom Accounts are designed to expand educational opportunities and give Texas families greater flexibility in choosing the learning environment that best fits their child.
First awards will be available for eligible students for the 2026–27 school year.
The application period will run from February 4 to March 17, 2026. Families will be notified of award decisions during the week of April 6.
For students attending a private school without additional funding related to a disability, the award amount is $10,474.
