Varsity Boys Basketball Starts Season
Grace Basketball is off and running for the 2023-2024 season. We purposefully strengthened our schedule to prepare our teams for success in the district and the playoffs and the tough competition has proved very challenging early in the season. The varsity team is off to a 2-4 start losing 3 games to state-ranked opponents. The Cougars did finish 2-1 in the Union Grove Tournament before the Thanksgiving Break. Defeating Avery and New Diana. In the 82-51 Avery win, four Cougars scored in double figures led by Caden Swaim’s 20-point performance. Andrew Dancy, Peyton Kelly, and Daniel Shankle all finished in double figures. Against New Diana, 10 or 11 players scored a basket to help the Cougars to a 70-36 win.
Our JV Blue team opened their season with a big win over Chapel Hill on Monday. The Cougars were led by Dayne Edens, Ben Gregory, Ethan Hood, and Brady Luce. All our teams will be in action on Tuesday as we host Pine Tree in our first home game of the season. We hope that all the Cougar fans will come out and support our teams. The JV White plays at 4:30, JV Blue at 6:00, and Varsity at 7:30. This weekend our varsity will be traveling to Dallas to participate in the Shelton Invitational. Both our JV teams will be playing in the Tatum Tournament. Best of luck to our teams as they begin a busy week of Cougar Hoops!
